British Travel Week 2018 – Big Bus

In honour of British Travel Week 2018, we thought it only right to celebrate the success of one of our favourite clients, Big Bus Tours.

The brainchild of an English family with deep roots in the transport industry the business was launched into a very crowded market in June 1991, and is today the largest operator of open-top sightseeing tours in the world, providing sightseeing tours in 19 cities across three continents.

Formed from the merger of two established sightseeing tour businesses: The Big Bus Company Ltd (based in London) and Les Cars Rouges (based in Paris) we were delighted to be asked to create the brand identity for the new business, Big Bus Tours in 2011,

Big Bus Tours’ sightseeing formula has been designed to provide a flexible approach to city discovery. Each open-top bus tour provides a hop-on, hop-off facility at a variety of interesting locations and, wherever possible, Big Bus Tours looks to enhance the visitor sightseeing experience by providing complementary experiences.

We devised a strong identity system that enabled the delivery of a unique identity for each city Big Bus operates in, to build on their overarching philosophy of ‘think global and act local’. Since the launch we have created 6 further city identities: Paris, Istanbul, New York, Rome, Chicago and Sydney playing our part in their incredible success. (They were purchased by Exponent LLC a London based private equity partnership in 2015 for over £400m).
